McDan Shipping is looking for highly qualified and motivated persons for the position of Sales Manager (Logistics).

Job Brief

To develop and lead strategy and drive sales for profitability. Our ideal sales manager has in-depth knowledge of and experience with the sales process, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and closing deals. We’re seeking a quick learner with strong negotiating skills, and someone with a track record of success who can inspire the same in others.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Listen to customer requirements and present appropriate solutions to make a sale
  • Arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business
  • Act as a contact between the company and its existing and potential markets
  • Negotiate the terms of an agreement and closing sales
  • Gather market and customer information
  • Review sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
  • Gain a clear understanding of customers businesses and requirements
  • Make accurate, rapid cost calculations and provide customers with quotations
  • Feed future buying trends back to the employee
  • Attend team/group meetings and share best practices with colleagues

Requirements

  • 8+ years of post-qualification and industrial experience with 3 years in a senior sales/marketing (in the Shipping and Logistics industry) role with proven track record.
  • Professional certification (CIM Level 2 or better) or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Marketing; an MBA degree would be an added advantage.

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

• In-depth knowledge in the shipping and logistics market
• Considerable knowledge/understanding of market segmentation, value propositions and customer profiles
• Excellent knowledge of marketing and branding activities
• Good managerial, coaching and interpersonal skills in a “team” setting
