McDan Group chairman extends philanthropic efforts to St. Lucia

The Group Chairman of McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel McKorley, is currently touring several Caribbean countries, including the Bahamas, St. Lucia, Grenada, and Anguilla, at the invitation of their Prime Ministers and Premier.

During his visit to St. Lucia, Dr McKorley made significant charitable donations totalling $100,000 to various organisations.

These donations were directed towards supporting orphanages, schools, and healthcare facilities.

The Prime Minister of St. Lucia expressed gratitude for Dr McKorley’s contributions, which aim to uplift the most vulnerable members of society.

Dr. McKorley’s visit to St. Lucia also coincided with his birthday, which was celebrated in the presence of the Prime Minister, cabinet members, and other dignitaries.

McDan Group to expand operations into the Caribbean before end of 2024

The Executive Chairman of McDan Group Dr.  Daniel Mckorley has revealed that they are working to expand their operations into the Caribbean before the end of the year.

He explained that the move has been influenced by plans to expand into new markets to help the group absorb shocks going forward.

He hinted that the Group is likely to choose Grenada as the base to expand to other countries in the region.

He disclosed this to JOYBUSINESS after a high level meeting with the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Thomas Mitchell on the sidelines of the AFREXIM Annual Meetings in Nassau Bahamas.

He expressed his excitement at the initial engagements with Government officials of Grenada.

“Our expansion drive has also been influenced by request coming from some of these countries outside Ghana looking at the good work that we are doing in Ghana”, he said.

Area of focus and the Caribbean expansion Initiative 

According Mr. McKorley some of the Group’s operations that will be expanded to the Caribbean are logistics, shipping, aviation services and the salt business.

“There is a lot of opportunities in that region, and the necessary feasibility has been done to ensure that the partnership and necessary synergies materializes for the group going forward”.

He disclosed that there are plans to extend some Ghanaian businesses along on the expansion drive to the Caribbean.

“I have already engaged some Ghanaian businesses and even some of the businesses, especially the SME’s are with me on this trip to the Caribbean”

He added that there is the need to support Ghanaians to grow their businesses, adding own Ghanaians can turn around the economy.
“I have a real estate developer with me, as well as major player in the FINTECH industry with me here at the AREXIM meetings”, he said.

Visiting St Lucia as part of Caribbean expansion drive  

Dr. McKorley as part of his Caribbean expansion initiative also paid a visit to the St Lucia to personally, engage some senior government officials, from Trade, Commence, Deputy Prime Minister and investment promotion officials.

He revealed that the decision was taken to participate in the Port and Logistics of St Lucia after visiting port areas in St Lucia and other areas in the country.

At one of the meetings, the Minister of Commence, Manufacturing, Business Development, Corporate and Consumer Affairs Hon Emma Hippolyte expressed her government’s move to put in place the necessary measure to aid the investment of the McDan Group.

“We will take up this issue at the cabinet level, because we are having a cabinet meeting today. This shows you how, at the government level we are serious about the situation”

Hippolyte also revealed that, the McDan Group could look at making St Lucia the hub for his operations in the Caribbean

McDan Supports Physically Challenged Entrepreneur With Ghc 50,000

Executive Chairman of the McDan Group of companies, Dr Daniel McKorley has extended a helping hand to a physically challenged entrepreneur to augment his efforts.

This forms part of the Group’s continues pursuit of growing business innovation among young entrepreneurs across the country.

Dr McKorley made the gesture at Wa, the Upper West Regional capital where the McDan Entrepreneur Challenge was held over the weekend.

The McDan Group founder made a personal GH¢50,000 donation to the physically challenged entrepreneur whose business ideas could not pass the test of assessment.

According to him, even though it missed the mark, the idea showed great promise worthy of support.

Already in its 6th year, the innovative McDan entrepreneur challenge has led to the provision of significant seed funding for many startups and enabled the spawning of many others.

This year’s northern qualification event which was held at Wa, saw the participation of senior high school students and university students from across the northern regions and was very keenly contested.

The event was heavily attended by the chiefs and people of the north and other dignitaries from Accra.

McDan Commends Stonebwoy For Promoting Ghanaian Culture Thru Music

Dr Daniel McKorley, Executive Group Chairman of the McDan Group has commended the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Artiste of the Year, Livingstone Setakla with stage name, Stonebwoy for his creativity in promoting the Ghanaian culture through music.

According to McDan, the sound of Stonebwoy’s music is important to the Ghanaian culture and urged him to keep pushing the boundaries of his creativity in producing more music that inspires and tourches the heart of people.

Dr McKorley said these inspiring words in a congratulatory message to the Artiste in a post on his facebook page Sunday June 2, 2024, a day after Stonebwoy was adjudged Artiste of the Year in Accra.

The business mogul also pledged his unwavering readiness to support Stonebwoy in every way humanly possible for him to take on the world.

“Like I have told you in all our private conversations, whatever support you need from me to take on the world, I’m ready to give it all to you”!, the post stated.

The sensational Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy emerged the overall best artiste in Ghana Saturday night where he swept other five awards.

This is the second time the Into the Future artiste has won the Artiste of the Year, the first in 2015.

He beat his biggest “rival” King Promise, who had been projected as a likely winner, gospel singer, Nacee, rapper Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene and Black Sherif to be the ultimate winner in a year marking the scheme’s 25th  anniversary.

Stonebwoy walked home  with six awards.

Apart from Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy, who had the highest nominations, also clinched the Best International collaboration with Manodzi featuring Angelique Kidjoe,  Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Allbum/EP of the Year.

Stonebwoy joins the league of Sarkodie and VIP who have won the ultimate TGMA prize two times. Sarkodie won in 2010 and 2012.
