The enterpreneur of the year

Shipping and Logistics giant McDan Group of Companies has added yet another award to its trophy collections.

The established shipping and logistics firm picked three Awards in the prestigious Ghana Shippers Awards recently held in Accra.

Group chairman, Dr. Daniel McKorley was adjudged the best entrepreneur of the year.

The company also shrugged off stiff competition from recognized companies to win the Brand of the Year Award as well as Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility.

Head of Sales and Marketing of McDan Shipping Company Limited, Mr Obodai Sai in a post-event interview said: “We have always stood for excellence, and will continue to set high standards in the industry. Certainly, this will urge us on to go the extra mile.”

Team work and inspiration from Dr McKorley, he said played a key role in this feat.

The Ghana Shippers Awards provides a platform to recognise individuals and companies that play significant role in the growth and development of this industry, while recognising the key functions with the industry that promote growth and sustainability.

This year’s Awards was on the theme “Recognizing achievement in the shipping industry “.

GIMPA gets moot court

The first ever moot court in Ghana for the Institute of Management and Public Administration’s (GIMPA) faculty of law has been officially launched.

We were able to offload the vessel in record time to beat deadlines thereby saving client demurrage costs at the Tema port. We engaged about 237 trucks to undertake direct loading.
All documentation and custom formalities were done prior to vessel arrival. The timeline for the project was two weeks from ETA of the vessel, but thanks to the excellent coordination , management and planning of our team, the project was executed within a week.

We took delivery to different locations nationwide. Delivery locations include Koforidua (2 h 3 min /98.5 km), Nsawam (1 h 14 min /58.8 km), Anyinam (2 h 14 min /133.8 km) and Kumasi (4 h 47 min /276.3 km), POL: Vietnam

UN charter flight project with Ethiopia

McDan Shipping Company as General Sales Agents for Ethiopian Airlines coordinated an export of medical kits on a chartered flight from Ghana to Addis Ababa. From receipt of the cargo from the truck of the shipper to the warehouse, we ensured ground handlers had duly palletized cargo according to IATA standards to avoid damage. This was to ensure there were no accidents, near misses or losses in the loading process. Cargo was finally moved to the ramp, where we also ensured that agents working on the shipment loaded cargo onto aircraft appropriately after which we issued the final Air Waybill for the consignment.
