The first ever moot court in Ghana for the Institute of Management and Public Administration’s (GIMPA) faculty of law has been officially launched. This long awaited development was made possible by a former student of GIMPA and currently the executive chairman of the McDan Group of companies, Dr. Daniel Mckorley.

A man who has distinguished himself in his business endeavor and committed to the national cause and due to his believe in the goals of the faculty of law philanthropically set up the moot court to enhance the dealings of the institution. Dr. Markorley was given a citation as an honour for his altruistic gesture for the betterment of the institute and the country at large.

“It is our job to support institutions like GIMPA who are doing training and management,” Mr. Mckorley said. “I want to urge other companies in the private sector to come to the aid of GIMPA, Legon, KNUST and others to do things like this.”
Also present at the launch was the first female to occupy the position of the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship, Mrs. Georgina Theodora Woods who was as well honoured with a library being dedicated in her name.

The event climaxed with official ribbon cuttings and dedication of the library and the moot court respectively by the Chief Justice Mrs. Georgina Woods and chairman of the McDan

group Dr. Daniel Markoley. Moot court is a simulated oral argument, similar to an argument made before an

appellate court. The argument lasts around fifteen minutes, during which time the attorney presents an argument and answers questions posed by the panel of judges.  It is not a trial: there are no witnesses and no evidence. The arguments are evaluated on the application of the law to the facts of the case.
